It was odd, being in the half-empty apartment by herself. Diana supposed she could move from the couch to the bedroom now but then...well, she didn't have a bed or the disposable income to buy one right now. Besides, the couch was comfortable and if she moved it into the bedroom she wouldn't have a place to watch the tele-...oh yeah, that had been her roommate's. Oh well, she'd never really watched much tv anyway.

Diana made a face at the wall where the television had used to sit. It wasn't Sara's fault the place didn't feel right anymore. Even if she had moved out so she could go off to the promised land of Miami with her new fiance. "At least she promised to help with the rent until I can find someone else," Diana muttered to herself. She really didn't want to be out on the street, after all. Or to move back in with her parents, as much as she loved them. Of course, she figured she'd better find a replacement -- fast. Diana just didn't feel right taking Sara's money like that, especially when the girl should've been saving it up for the wedding or whatever.

Flopping down on the couch, Diana let out a sigh. Her life was made of blah. This just proved it. Maybe she should go find a "real" job, she mused. Her mom had been not-so-subtly hinting about it for a while. That and hints about finding a man. And maybe there were comments about grandchildren in there, too. Diana laughed a little to herself, "maybe she'll settle for a grand-dog-child." She paused, glanced around the small apartment, "or maybe a grand-hamster-child, actually."

It wasn't something she really worried about, though. She had no real interest in 'finding a man' or having kids or any of that. The thought of settling down and becoming that domestic actually made her lip curl a little in disgust. Yeah, she doubted that was in her future. She was still contemplating what might actually be in her future as she slid into sleep.

cool, dank, dark cavern. something rough digging into her back. can't move her arms or legs, something holding her fast. can't see but there's a sound... water dripping nearby, above her and then the first drop lands on her cheek and it's a moment before she really feels the burning. another follows, dropping into her eye and she screams as it feels like her entire eyeball is melting in its socket and more follow and no one's there to stop it there's only dripping, the burning, the pain and himherit

Diana awoke to find herself sprawled on the floor beside the couch, her throat raw, her head throbbing, and her neighbor pounding on the wall and yelling something that sounded suspiciously like Shut the hell up!. It was still dark outside. She didn't want to move. She didn't remember what happened. She didn't really care.

Ow.
